How difficult is it to fit 1969 door panels on a 1970-75 coupe? The retail sites all say they are different but they "look" the same to me. Has to do woith the mounting.
The mounting is all the same. 68 had no door handle and it was integrated into the door making them much wider. 69 started the door handle. 70 started a different design on the door. It says they are different because of the design. However, the mounting and fit is all the same. I have 71 door panels on my 68, all lined up and fit perfectly.
Power windows were optional on all C3's until they became standard issue in 1980. I agree with the strategy of finding an emblem that will cover/fill that opening.
The LT-1 valve covers have a flat circular emblem that is available as a separate item and which might resolve that issue.
you got a new project vette. door panels. waaaay down the list of stuff to deal with. tire dates. brakes. suspension bushings. you still don't have the engine all the way sorted. hoses belts t-top seals.
yes and no. I want to buy / fix things as they come to get good deals. If the last item I need comes up cheap I'll buy today. $60 for those panels was a good deal. I got the complete carpet tax , shipping, etc for only $238. On sales. ACC brand.
Also need to keep the wife happy. When that pile of sh*** was unloaded on our driveway and she saw that swamp interior....priceless. Now that its coming together she's more interested then me. Just before that I gave her hell for bringing 5 junk pallets to the house. Look what she did with them..... So I'll do the pretty stuff along with the important stuff.
My '81 Z82 had factory power windows. The manual window hole was covered by a round emblem. I'm fairly sure it had either a Chevrolet symbol or the Chevrolet name. Perhaps look at places specializing in Camaro parts. I've found a number of generic parts for my '79 from a Camaro place--the Corvette specialists either didn't have them or charged far more for the exact same thing.
