I would like to replace the shift indicator plate in my '71 coupe [auto trans] with one for a 700R4 overdrive trans. Anyone know of possible vendors? I tried Google, but came up with Shiftworks as only source.
I finally got around to grinding a slot for low range in the detent shift plate. Now that I can lock it in low range, I'd like the correct shift plate to finish it off.

I only found shiftworks when I was looking at different prndl options (never did go to a OD yet, and went digital so if I do it's just a change in the programming now)
Shouldn't be a huge deal to remove the existing letters and get a set of reversed letra-letters to make your own, or get a print shop to make a sticker that could be put underneath

Thanks for the suggestions, folks. In researching Keen Parts, Shiftworks, and Bowtie, it seems that only Shiftworks produces this part; but they only sell it as a kit with all the hardware brackets, plates, indicator needed to swap over to a 700R4 trans. But Shiftworks does not sell the indicator lens by itself...at least their on-line catalog doesn't show it separately.
I am leaning toward making another shift indicator lens out of clear acrylic plastic and placing numbers/letters as needed. Thanks for the help and input.
Yes, That is the Shiftworks indicator plate! I was unable to find the individual piece on their site. Thanks for providing it.
Eric P... I didn't find that item available at Keen Parts. But, apparently, I'm not that good at 'searching' the web. If you have a web address for the clear plastic lens for the 700R4 shift ranges, I'm interested. Either part is acceptable to me; but I would prefer the clear one with lettering (similar to the stock piece).
I own a original 700 R4- Amusingly/confusingly the shift quadrant has only 2,3,D,N R,P...no #1 first gear. Endless confusion has ensued since 82!
So Chevy never made one!
The '82 C3 had the first 700R4's in it. Since the auto shifter was already there, GM just went ahead and installed the R4 with the same production shifter. The detent plate did not have a separate notch for 1st range, so you couldn't lock it in 1st range, alone. It started in 1st range in all the 'drive' ranges, however.
You can make two easy cuts into the stock detent plate with a cutoff wheel and thin cutter. Then it will allow 1st gear starts. Easy to do: remove shifter console plate; unclip the shift cable from the shifter mechanism; remove the 4 mounting screws on the shifter; lay it on its side and make the clearance cuts for the 1st range shift notch; button it back up. NOW you need a new shift indicator lens....
