Going through my headlights and will to rebuild the mechanism w/ new bushings/etc. Front lamp harness was replaced by me circa 2011. Didn't know what this was, just left it disconnected. It's in the front driver's side fender, in FRONT of the wheel arch. connections are a "ground" and a plug that looks just like the turn signal for that side. There is no plug on the harness to plug into...
Thoughts? (Don't worry. What you think is rust, isn't. Corvettes don't rust....)
'69 Convertible, 427/390hp (well, the body)
If the car has that installed, it has (or had) the TI distributor, also. AND the wiring to the ignition system has the TI resistor wires needed for that system.
Don't know what ignition system you are using new, but the original TI parts and wiring need to be exchanged/altered/removed before some other type of ignition system is installed.
Oh, the car is far from original and no practical (or financial) way of getting there. I've got an HEI so deleting this will save some weight and make it even faster.
The car is an automatic vert body, manual frame, 454 block w/ a 427 crank. 4-speed M20, now a Keisler 5-speed. Fiero seats w/ corvette covers. Vintage air a/c. Fun to drive. I would receive 0 points in judging and have received negative points from my wife.
Thanks for the info though. The amp is on the way to bbvette427 as we speak. Glad I can help keep the restored cars going. I really appreciate the effort put into keeping the right candidates original. Maybe one day I can get my '63 split window and go that route...or is that blasphemy in this section . It's been a few years since I've worked on her and spent a little time on the forum.
This all started when I was diagnosing a bad wiper door valve (door stayed open all the time). New valve on order but I decided to vacuum test the remaining relays/etc. Well, got to the headlights and one seal needs replacing and noticed some of the bushings were severely worn or missing. Now...Driver's entire light is out and disassembled. Passenger's and actuators come out tomorrow. New bushings, seals and odds 'n ends on order.
I'm sure nobody ever went down trails like that before. I'm forcing myself to stop there for now otherwise I'll have a frame off started by Friday.
