Corvette Summer Build
I've been working towards this car for quite a long time. After years of searching and saving, I've finally obtained the parts to do so!
My Dad bought a VHS of Corvette Summer after telling me how cool the car was in the movie. After watching the movie several times, I knew I wanted to own that car someday. Fast forward to 2008, and the body parts were being offered for sale, but being in high school meant buying them was out of the question. It was quite depressing when they disappeared. I figured the dream was dead and gone.
About a year ago on another forum I'm on, I mentioned I wanted to build this car after someone posted a pic of it. I was linked to a for sale thread on this forum, where to my surprise I saw all the pieces to build the car. The body parts, wheels, Moonroof tops, lights, everything. I knew I had to have it. Fast forward to almost a year to the day later, and I was driving 950 miles down to Knoxville Tennessee.
Once I was down in TN, I met up with forum member Timnagin. Super nice guy, very knowledgeable and did a hell of a job collecting and making parts over the years. We took our time loading up the trailer, and went to the nearest Lowes to build a crate to keep the body parts safe for the long ride home.
Over the course of 48 hours, I've driven 1900+ miles thru 9 states each way, and I'm now the proud owner of the Corvette Summer movie car (parts)!
The Corvette itself is a 75 L48 nothing car. It was originally Mille Miglia red on medium Saddle leather. It is still numbers matching, but the engine was rebuilt with flat tops, mild solid lifter cam, roller rockers, and an ok set of GM iron heads. The chassis has already been gone through with new brakes, ball joints, coils and leaf spring, control arm bushings, etc etc.

Still gotta cut the firewall out and shave it smooth. I'm thinking about ditching the wiper assembly so I can totally smooth out the top of the cowl.
Love that hood and front end!!! Ever consider making the side scoops functional?
One side would help evacuate hot air, one could get creative with the forward facing ones for cold air intake. Neat project, keep posting!! Heavy metal flake baby!!

I'm thinking of using. 015 flake. It's hrd to tell how large the flake is in the movie, but for me bigger is always better!
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

I'm about 30 miles north of Boston, on the coast and NH border.
I pulled the original nose off today. Wasn't too bad to to remove, but it's always easier when you know you're not reusing it. I discovered it had Eckler rectangular headlights, which is pretty cool.
I threw the new nose on for a quick look.

I got the front original front end off today. Discovered it had some nifty rectangular headlights by Eckler. After I got it off I mocked up the new nose.

On a serious note that is coming along quick thanks for posting all the photos for it along the way. I cant wait to see it completed. Are you going for the full Candy red and flames look as the movie car or are you going for the Gold movie car?
