great work!!! Is there enough lateral support to keep it from tipping to the side?
Initially I was worried about that, but that factory bracket is made from almost 1/4" thick steel. I've stood on it and really pulled it from side to side watching for it to deflect or twist, but it's rock solid.
I'm working on a bushing setup for the center track section to ensure it wants to come up completely straight and not bind up. It actually works pretty smoothly as it is, but extra insurance is always nice.
Big Fan of this Car. Huge. This car is a huge childhood memory with me. Don't care much what anyone says. This is by far one of the most baddest cars on the planet. One of a kind. This car should be at SEMA. You should do a Youtube video of this as well as the pictures you are doing. Keep up the beautiful work.

My Dad bought a VHS of Corvette Summer after telling me how cool the car was in the movie. After watching the movie several times, I knew I wanted to own that car someday. Fast forward to 2008, and the body parts were being offered for sale, but being in high school meant buying them was out of the question. It was quite depressing when they disappeared. I figured the dream was dead and gone.
About a year ago on another forum I'm on, I mentioned I wanted to build this car after someone posted a pic of it. I was linked to a for sale thread on this forum, where to my surprise I saw all the pieces to build the car. The body parts, wheels, Moonroof tops, lights, everything. I knew I had to have it. Fast forward to almost a year to the day later, and I was driving 950 miles down to Knoxville Tennessee.
Once I was down in TN, I met up with forum member Timnagin. Super nice guy, very knowledgeable and did a hell of a job collecting and making parts over the years. We took our time loading up the trailer, and went to the nearest Lowes to build a crate to keep the body parts safe for the long ride home.
Over the course of 48 hours, I've driven 1900+ miles thru 9 states each way, and I'm now the proud owner of the Corvette Summer movie car (parts)!
The Corvette itself is a 75 L48 nothing car. It was originally Mille Miglia red on medium Saddle leather. It is still numbers matching, but the engine was rebuilt with flat tops, mild solid lifter cam, roller rockers, and an ok set of GM iron heads. The chassis has already been gone through with new brakes, ball joints, coils and leaf spring, control arm bushings, etc etc.
I saw the movie at the drive-ins when it came out. My thought at the time was, they sure messed up that Corvette! I still think it is ugly but it has that '70s nostalgia thing going so I have to give it a thumbs up now. I'd still rather have Annie Potts though!

Thanks man!
Progress has slowed, as I'm trying to finish up some other projects I have going on, but I hope to accomplish a lot on the Vette this summer!
I'm thinking about building a 6.0 LS for it. Nothing wrong with the 350 in it now, but I think a well built LS would be pretty rad in it.
It's been almost another couple of years since your last post. How's your progress?
Actually, pretty good. It kinda got shoved into the corner to finish other cars, but slowly have been chipping away. Got the bodywork roughed out, and have been building an LQ4 on the stand for it.

This is just awesome. I've always loved the Corvette Summer Corvette, and we watch this movie every summer (along with Gumball Rally). Can't wait to see it finished! You, sir, will be the center of attention at all the car shows...

Thanks! The rear clip is all body worked too. Just gotta grab some pics. The only stock body panels on the car are the doors, and I've been contemplating putting 68 doors on it just to give the purists a heart attack thinking I "ruined" a 68 lol
I cant wait to bring it to some of the all Corvette shows. The reactions will be priceless.

NCRS show....But use an original L88 center console and say that you go tit from a relative and you just chopped it up for your Corvette summer project

Hahah I like the way you think!
I thought an NCRS Gold front plate might be amusing to put on it. I never run front plates, but that might be the exception lol
The trick to this car is making the paint correct, all the flake and candy is no easy task, you might be better to paint it the alter ego gold with the pin striped flames!
Try and work a Korky’s Kustoms logo on to it as a tip of the hat.

I'm not taking the easy way out. Already started gathering some of the paint for the car. I'm waiting on final color samples from HOK to pick the red, orange and gold candies.
Already have the Orion Silver base coat, followed up with 2lbs of .025 silver metal flake that'll be sprayed through HOK flake carrier. After that sits about a week, I'll knock it down smooth with 800 grit and begin laying candy. Once the color is on, it'll get topped off with around six coats of HOK high solids clear.
Wont be easy, but will be awesome.
I'm currently shaving the firewall. Everything from the booster/master to the passenger fender is cut out, and being remade with a combo of sheetmetal topped with fiberglass. Should look pretty sweet.
