Hey, my friend recently bought a Corvette from the same year and was hoping to make the same build. Would it be possible to give him blueprints of some sorts or post the dimensions for the hood?
He's pretty good with his hands, so a few pointers might get him going in the right direction.
Regards from Percé, Québec.
I can grab some dimensions for ya. Give me a few days. Currently the car is tucked in the corner of the shop on a lift.
It coming together. Grew up in this era. Love this car. Suggestion for you. Be nice if you could put the build on you tube. Im sure it would get a ton of views

Thanks bud!
It's funny, yesterday I was staring at the car and decided I'm pulling the body off the frame. The frame has a few spots on it I dont like. I believe it was hit at some point in its life, and I can't bring myself to layer thousands of dollars in candy paint with the body sitting on a tweaked frame.

So be watching for updates soon!
When I "off roaded" my car somewhat badly, the shop I took it to had a jig of some sort that let them verify all of the frame's factory parameters without having to pull the body. Of course it is always nice to do a once over on a bare frame, but as far as tweaks go I don't think you have to pull the body.

It has a good kink in it. I measured it out for square and level, and it is, but it bothers me. I'll grab a pic of the frame so you guys can see it.
Hello, I know this is a long shot, but does anyone still have any contact info to get a body kit or molds or any help towards a cs build in 2025? Thanks so much!!!!!!

Hmm, I dont. I did see a project car that recently sold that had the correct body, but that really doesn't help. There's a few Facebook groups dedicated to these cars, if you're on there I suggest asking those guys.
I hope to have some progress pics for you guys soon. I know I've said that a couple of times now, but it's coming, I promise. lol
I threw the LS6 and TH400 in it to check various clearances. Looks like everything is gonna clear no problem. I was slightly worried about the alternator placement, but it tucks right in nicely. The hood has more than enough clearance (obviously lol).
Next step is to break it all down and remove the frame. This one is kinda mangled, although measures straight and isnt rusty. That said, I can't build a car like this and have the frame looking like that.
Awesome update and I’m glad you are moving forward with this project.
Just remember to triple check that everything is welded onto the frame before you have it painted or coated.
I forget to weld on the clutch z bar bracket and after I welded on the bracket, I spent a couple weeks trying to perfectly match the black powder coat color and sheen with the right rattle can paint for the touch up.

I'll be replacing the whole frame with another, and mixing and matching suspension components.
I'll be painting the frame in candy, although I haven't decided what color. Idk if I should go with red to match the primary color of the car, gold to match the drivetrain and edges of the flames on the car, or orange to match the secondary color in the body of the flames on the car. I think any color would look good, but I want them to play off each other nicely.
I'd really like to send the control arms, trailing arms, and half shafts out to get chrome plated, but for now I'll do them in candy as well. Maybe down the road they'll get plated.
Strangest thing happened with the steering. The car has been sitting on the lift for a long time, and has decided it doesn't want to steer. I disconnected the steering column, and discovered the steering box froze itself up solid. Not a big deal as it's getting a Borgenson setup, but interesting.

Are you going to go through and finish all the welds and smooth it out to show room quality? What about the rear suspension, anything fancy like a 4 or 6 link or just stock with the deep dish bends ? Are you going with a full custom exhaust to match the CS origianl movie style or just hookers or something? That is going to be beautiful.

What year is the frame you are not using?
I'll probably clean up the welds and seams on the front half of the frame depending on how ambitious I'm feeling. After that it'll be body worked and sprayed in high build, sanded smooth and painted up.
The rear suspension is staying stock for now. I'll probably change the leaf and add adjustable strut rods. I'd really like to do a Ford 9" with a 4 link, but I gotta get this damn thing on the road sooner than later lol
The current frame is from a 75.
I haven't fully decided on the side pipes. I keep flip flopping back and forth. On one hand, I have the mercury tube fins and heat shields already made (hand built and look awesome), but they'll only allow for a maximum tube diameter of 3", which doesn't give much room for a decent flowing muffler setup. In reality it would probably be breathing thru a 2" hole, which sucks.
Making the fenders exit headers wouldn't be too bad, but being committed to running a 3" collector sucks when the Hooker setup uses a 4" collector and side tube. That allows all sorts of options for free flowing muffler inserts.
