Hi all. I have a 1971 Corvette Stingray T-top, 350 Small block. I want to sell it, no no, i take that back. I don't want to sell it i want to keep her but life said no. SOOOO. Here i am with a peach and life through me lemons and said make tea!! WHAT IS THE PRICE I SHOULD LET HER GO FOR REASONABLY!!?? Super interested in everything everyone has to say. Can't wait for all the great feedback and ill do my best to descibe her and show pictures of her in the best detail. If you wanna buy her that is also very doable. LET'S GO!!!!
Was running when it parked. Needs a shim for brand new starter, but other then that id say general tlc, oil change, coolant, battery. the fuel tank needs cleaned before running it again and id say just a professional run through to clean her up. ENGINE TRANS AND BRAKES ALL WORKED WHEN PARKED. WHAT IS THE BIRD CAGE???

Reason: question
NOT ORIGNAL. Professionaly rebuilt 350, and new transmission. Hood is from a totaled corvette so needs a new one and missing latches on front clip. I do have the tops.

You would increase the value substantially if you spend an afternoon to get it running and driving. "ran when parked" or "just needs X" reduce interested parties by 80%.

I agree. “Ran when parked” is a huge red flag for me when considering cars. There’s a big difference between “ran when parked” and “running”.... and is reflected in the $ received on a sale.

If there's rust and it isn't running, you would be paying them to take it off your hands.
I'd want to know the transmission, mileage, rust condition, and the major problems.
The "ran when parked" is pretty common terminology over on the AACA site and is an understandable reference point for older vintage cars. It simply means the car had no major problems at that period, like a blown or seized engine, non-functioning transmission, etc. So it "should" run again.
I'm OK with that info.
Cheers, Greg
That is assuming the birdcage and frame are rust free.
Big assumption. All these other issues are irrelevant until we can assess the rust status of this car. If it's a pretzel ready to snap in two, none of the other things matter.
Robert,
Im not an expert in car pricing, but it seems to me the most important information you should be providing is what you want from the sale.
If you are simply ready to be rid of the car without sinking anymore money or time into it and will take what you can get then that is one price range and selling as-is, buyer beware.
If you must get as much as you can for the car and are looking for bang-for-buck, high return on investment work you can put into the car to maximize its sale price then that is another price range and advice from these experts on this forum - not me!
I have sold some things that I know I could have gotten more for them, but I just was not in a position to invest the time or money in attempt to increase a sell price, so I just sold it as is (boat and old Celica convertible).
From what you have described and shown in the pics in this thread...and what you have NOT stated as to the operational aspects of this car, I wouldn't offer more than $3500 as it sits. Sorry, but too many unknowns and no substantive info from you, other than "It ran [years ago] when I parked it." Some young person who didn't know his/her way out of a paper bag might offer you more--because of the 'Corvette syndrome'--but it is a crap-shoot for anyone who knows about Corvettes.
Just wondering where the car is located. It looks not too bad for a car that has been sitting . Price wise as is roll the dice kind of car 5 to 7 k as it is a bumper car
