Or maybe I should say, what's the purpose of this? It's a piece of foam (fairly dense / thick) that was inside of the #3 body mount pockets. One on each side, just laying on top of the mount. The only thing I can think of is that maybe they were glued to the inside of the cover that bolts to the inside of the rear wheel well? They are slightly smaller than the cover itself.
Close , they were wedged into the bottom of the B pillar ,just above the whole access panel . I believe they were to stop road noise resonating up the steel "tube" into the cabin area . Mine also had no sign of any glue , just kinda stuck there by expanding into the edges of the steel pieces.

OK... so they actually were up inside the bird cage originally? Is it possible to put them back in, or out of reach from the body mount area?

Small hands might get it back up there , I had to take the whole panel off for rust repairs so I made sure they went back before gluing it back on. They sit above the small hole at the bottom edge of the glass .

Thanks Bazza! Great photo. Maybe I can talk my wife into trying. No way I'm getting my catcher's mitts in there.
