Bubba lost the ground strap- rather than spending a paltry $7 fixed it all by himself...

My car had the factory ground so I wonder why the Bubba ground. I swapped the headlight switch and my interior lights still do not work even though they did before. Coukd this have something to do with the ground? Maybe the previous owner did the bubba ground because the factory one was mot working AND if so maybe my lights stopped working because the Bubba ground came off. Could this be correct?

The factory ground goes over to the gauge housing, I wonder if the gauge ground is missing and they added this ground rather than actually correcting it?

Well I just ran a wire from the negative battery terminal to the switch and grounded the bracket and I still did not get any interior lights. Oh well, I have to dig deeper

Check the number of connections on the new switch. I bought one for my 68 from CA. I installed it and the lights did not work properly. After investigating the issue I noticed the original switch has 7 connection while the replacement has 8. I called CA and was told thats all they has and it is made in China. They took no responsibility for the listing and refunded the cost to make me go away. That same part is still listed today. I found the correct switch at Mid America. I called and they were nice enough to have someone pull it and check. Buyer be ware.

The ground strap for the headlamp switch is ground coming from the speedo housing. The ground going to the speedo housing is a black wire attached to the front door pilar metal. If you don't have that wire, there will be no interior lights.

Can you show me a picture of the one you are referring to that goes to the front door pillar?

Here is the ground he's talking about but if you've already run a wire from negative to the bracket and still have no interior lights then it's not that ground causing the issue

When you say no lights, none? no kick panel lights or rear compartment lights when opening the doors? or no tach and speedo lights or just the gauges in the center console, what about the shifter console, prndl / heater control or cigarette lighter lights?

I have no speedo or tach or center gauges. They worked when I bought the car but just when out at one point. I dont think I ever had the rear compartment light and honestly Im not even sure its installed. Ill have to check.

You know, I think I have to laugh at this one. I was looking at the wrong fuse and didnt see that little one at the bottom. I just pulled it and it is most certainly blown. That is probably my issue and I will replace it tomorrow.

Im glad it may be a simple fix but Im such an idiot!
