Default Horn Button reinstall

Dumb question of the day, but is there a trick to putting the horn button back on? I pulled the column apart to clean and paint all the pieces, but the horn button doesn't want to snap back on easily. My car is a 70 with tilt/telescopic if that helps as well. Any help is appreciated.

Nope. No trick. Just place the horn button in position and press it down to cause the retaining 'fingers' to engage with the wheel. If your battery is connected, it will let you know that the horn works.

Your horn button will need to be correctly orientated to the receiving HUB. My steering wheel was attached to the metal hub so that is was off by 15 degrees. The Corvette Flags/Steering Wheel were tilted with the tires pointed straight ahead. I asked Ernie Willcox and he explained that my steering wheel was attached to the hub at an angle. I will try to get you some pictures showing the correct orientation of the steering wheel and horn receiver part. I hope this makes sense, if your horn receiver is not like the one in my picture, your horn button will not “LEVEL” when the steering wheel is turned so the tires are straight.

This correct so that the horn button will go on straight

If the three screws are not orientated like above the Horn Button will not go on correctly
