Default Replacement Intake Manifold

The single plane / dual plane debate not withstanding, what have you guys used as replacements for your manifolds?

This JEGS unit got solid reviews and in the horsepower per dollar category seems to be tops.

I just ordered the Holley Atomic 2 EFI to sit on top of it, so I wanted to check with the expert panel first.

As always thanks for the time and feedback.

I don't know. Its a $100 cheaper than You Know Who.
Reviews looked pretty good except for some modifications to clear it on some applications.
Also stated that somebody recommended 12 point small head ARP bolts.

This post really brings up the question of how any company can make a decent Intake $100 cheaper? When someone pays $250, are they truly just paying for the name brand? Or is there a huge quality difference in $100 or more?

Some issues with cheaper units are:
Bolt hole alignment.
Warpage of mounting surfaces.
Casting flash left behind.
Too porous, allowing easy oil staining.
Distributor hole not the correct height / thickness.

Its my understanding EFI responds better with a single plane intake. Take a look at the Team G. It has a lower pad height which is a big plus.

I agree with this......and there are two Team G's (actually like 5, but two distinct castings)....one is like a Torker 2, the other (#7530) is what I run on my own 406. The 7530 will not fit under 68-72 hoods....the other shorter one will.

As far as $100 difference in price......I quit using the China castings (Professional Products, Summit, JEG's) as they are pretty shitty to look at. The 2101 Edelbrock is $190 as of today.....the Summit is $34 cheaper. No thanks. A 2701 EPS intake is $149...even less than a Summit intake.....if you can use a square bore carb.
IDK....I am putting an overpriced Performer Air Gap on my wife's Camaro soon and it is solely because of looks and hose routing........

Thanks guys. I'm leaning Edelbrock 2701 right now... but I'm still reading. The folks at Holley said a dual-plenum will respond very well to this "SuperViper" (as they called it) Atomic 2 EFI. No whistle, good low end power. So maybe the 2701. I'm not pinching pennies on the engine upgrades... My LS budget has been reallocated, so headers and all the goodies are in the works. EFI is already en route, so I don't want to wait too long, but I definitely want the right pick. Thanks for the input and please keep it coming.

Anybody else out there running this Atomic 2? BergerBoy?

I'm not trying to create an absolute monster, but something that'll throw me back in the seat with a smile on my face is a must. And despite all the work I've doen in, on, and around vettes, I've never built up one these small blocks before, so I'm stoked about the adventure. Oh and she goes to paint in May, so I need to get rolling (literally and figuratively).

Look hard at the review on places like summit , jegs and amazon... you will find the same fitment and alignment complaints from both customers who bought the edelbrock as well as the others. Most of the video reviews for the chinese intakes are very old. Like the heads, the intakes have improved. Either that or the brand name ones have decreased in quality.
I has a polished assualt version and it works well, ports lined up well with no casting anomalies I compared it to the 2 rpms I had (non polished) and found nothing superior about them.
