If you aren't wearing a name tag, are you still Darrell?

Why is it that some owners of 77 to 82 insist that their car is a Stingray. 69 to 76 are STINGRAYS Period. 68 to 77 are the Shark body style. I don't know what the 78 to 82's are I think they look like a BLOWFISH with that big Friking back window. This is my opinion and every one has one.

I look forward to seeing you at Cars and Coffee!

I'll be in the 80 Blowfish with the big frickin' back window and these on the side.

Clearly talking to dead people results in incorrect information.

I capitulate....lets all just lie, lie lie...of course, it'll make it true. We are preserving these cars for the next generations... why not tell them the TRUTH!

The Speedo says 160....suuuureee!
Owning a Corvette is not enough, gotta be a STING RAY! (you should have bought one in the first place!).
A 78 is a 'Silver Anniversary EDITION'.

Sorry I come down for Truth, not buyers EGO.

But as an olive branch....Here is a STINGRAY emblem for you....see the pins have been cut off....suitable to put on your CAMRY.

Nice to hear from you. I was just wondering what took you so long to get involved on this thread.

How cool would it be to get Motorweek to do a 40-year update on the 82 Corvette. And who better to host than John Davis, who won't let you forget that he has (had?) a 78 Corvette. I'd love to have him weigh-in on the "Stingray" name.

A few years back I had a youngster call my 79 a "nice stingray". I don't have a problem with that.

I'm with you Priya.
A compliment is a compliment, no matter how misguided.
I had a kid walk over to my car when I was at a gas station filling up one night. He says "Wow, nice Corvette! My Uncle used to have a '58 back in the day, y'know ....when they were still made out of steel."
This kid had so much conviction in his voice, I just nodded in agreement and said "Yes, those were the really good ones. I wish I could afford one". He walked away happy.
So now when he makes that same statement to someone else, he has the confirmation from a real Corvette owner to bolster his story.
Just doing my part to muddy the waters
Cheers, Greg
