Does anyone feel that their Corvette is not a stingray because it doesn't say stingray on the side? Do you spend 10 minutes explaining to the little kid who says wow a stingray that's it's not a stingray because Chevrolet did not call it a stingray that year. I never ever saw an option box that says stingray when you ordered one new. Just wondering how you all feel about this.
I would put the Stingray emblems on your '82. Then park right next to the real Corvette purists at car shows and keep insisting your car came that way from the factory ....until one of them has a stroke.
You win.
Don't forget to wave!
I have a 76 Stingray
and I had a 79 Corvette
some hate when I used to wind them up and say it was a 79 Stingray, others brushed it off
will be a forever argument, discussion, etc etc
For me it never bothered me
We all love Corvettes, why do we get uptight about one little detail that affects neither performance or comfort. Let's all just keep the Corvette legend alive for future generations and perpetuate the car not the script.
I meant why do "some' people get so uptight, doesn't bother me at all.

OMG not another one of these. I suggest you do and advanced search for Stingray and you'll find out what all the members opinions on this subject.
My opinion on the matter is already well documented.
When someone who grew up in the Stingray era sees my 79 or 80 and says "cool Stingray", I just thank them for the complement. These cars put smiles on peoples faces, and that's good enough!

It's 2021. How does a little kid call this car a Stingray?

Obviously their parents told them it was a stingray. I love that the car makes adults act like children when they see it but I don't have to tell you that since you all see it when you take your cars out in public.

One advantage a '77 up has over a '76? That nice leather steering wheel instead of the Vega.
One advantage I have. Those nice Stingray emblems......
Don't forget, the metal center gauge cluster also changed to plastic in 1977. They also saved a few pennies by not painting the horn button, all of which must have gotten eaten up by the recall. But, any C3 with two brake lights and a metal center gauge cluster = "Stingray".
Even though the C3 design follows the Mako Shark concept car, the general public calls them all "Stingrays". Just remember that even the worst C3 is likely 10 times cooler than whatever they are driving, so enjoy the looks and compliments!
But if you really want to cheese several generations of Corvette purists, put a pair of these on your 82. Be sure to take off the "Crossfire" emblem, too, or you'll be the one getting picked on. Either way, you'll take some heat off of the C4 owners.
HELL YEAH!!! And don't forget to insist the car came with them from the factory ! When the purists start to swarm, with their rolling eyes and gnashing teeth, just say "My car was a factory prototype probably owned by Zora, you guys just don't understand". Guaranteed you'll see a purist forehead vein burst, right before your eyes.

Wait for it......
you are killing me, you should be a comedian! I'm sure you have made more than a few of us laugh. Keep it up!
