Not really, I can measure camber, I can measure toe. But I just shot for as much Caster as I could get. One day when I get rich I might get it put on a alignment machine just to get some measurements.
I'm thinking 5 plus. No measurements, but I'm not new to this. Took it for the first really long drive about 2 weeks ago. Weekend away trip with the Corvette club. Very happy with the way the car tracks at high speed. Not that I would ever exceed the speed limit mind you.
Glad this thread got resurrected. I am in the middle of trying to align my '78 and was having trouble with the caster. I had put larger tires and lower springs and now the front of the tire is hitting the bottom of the well opening on both sides. Wasn't sure what I had to do BEFORE I cut the openings. Now I know to get the offset shafts so my caster will go above 1 3/4 which is what it is now. Thanks to all.
I guess this is the first time I've really paid attention to the image of the offset shaft. I thought that the "offset" would be in the mounting hole location so that you could add more caster without also adding more camber. At any rate, it looks like these do have more material around the mounting hole to slot it like some members have suggested.
Yes the offset is to adjust camber. Which can help some with caster, as you add shims the the rear. But if you have read this entire thread I started a couple years ago. You will read that I purchased these offset shafts. Had them shipped to Leigh. He at that time had access to a proper milling machine and was able to slot the shafts for me and then shipped them off to Australia for me to install.
fast forward now a couple of years. WOW! This is a truly good modification. The car still handles great. But doesn't feel so light on the wheel at high speed. With power steering I don't notice any difference at parking lot speeds. I have had her on the track and am extremely pleased with the handling.
as per kicking that wheel slightly forward if your rubbing on the rear opening of the wheel well. Yes it'll fix that. If your rubbing on the forward opening of the wheel well. Not a good plan.
I run 255/60-15's all the way around. Never had a rubbing issue. But all these cars are slightly different.
