extensive welding. extensive glass work. you will end up pulling the body off the frame. pulling the nose and firewall off the body. do you have the space, tools, and abilities? and time? the fact that you are asking how tells me i must advise you for your own sake please do not try. is the rest of the car gorgeous? or tired and neglected?

The rest of the car is nice. Some little TLC type stuff. No rust I can find anywhere else on the car.
Is that normal for the the frame and floor pans to be so clean but the rockers to be shot?
I know some people that have a little experience with welding and old car restoration, however they are not corvette experts.
So you are saying the body has to come off the car for this repair?

yep , you will most likely have to go this far to get at all the rust,
that was after extensive work on the windscreen frame , I bought a wrecked 74 for the birdcage pieces , sold off what I didn't need . I'm getting ready to cut off the rotted sill panels here , you can see how one is splitting open under the hinge mount . Thats a 69 tri power so I thought its worth saving .
please heed the advice already given. that is a tremendously difficult repair job, and if you cannot do the work yourself, you will spend way more than a 79 will ever be worth paying a shop to repair that. that cannot be properly fixed without removing the body from the frame. You just purchased the car like a week ago. I would be going back to the seller asking if htey knew they sold you a junker.
you cannot pay someone the 10k this job will cost to repair that car. your method can be done. it is not easy and i believe it will be obvious so the car will still be seen as a repaired rusty car. but you already own it. and i have a feeling you got surprised by this rust. the #2 and 3 body mounts have to be removed so really all 8 mounts and car at least raised up. https://www.zip-corvette.com/68-82-r...vD_BwE#258=966 here is a thread where it looks like inserts were used. no those aren't inserts. still a good bit of info on the job. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...d-replace.html very involved how-to on these bodies. do some reading. http://www.corvette-restoration.com/...lation-part-1/

It's a private seller. I could not see this rust at the time. They said they didn't realize it was there either. The chassis looks really good.
It is very hard to see up beside the chassis between the rocker panel moulding. That's where the rust is, and pretty bad.
Since it would cost about what the car is worth to fix, not sure where to go from here. Going to need to think about where to go from here.
Will do, I'll probably just drill the screws out holding the moulding, I tried to take them out last night... not coming out without a fight. I'll get some pics as soon as I get the moulding off.
