I just ordered this American Autowire kit. Has anyone installed it? I figured my wiring is 52 years old and I don't want a fire. Also I want the new type fuses. Looks like fun.
Be sure to take pictures of each old harness before you remove it....you must put the new dash harness in the same way the original harness was installed or else it will take hours to put all the dash components back into place because space is very limited. Below is a pic of what happens IF you do not take "Before Removal pics".......
That task will only be "fun" if you label EVERY interconnection on BOTH sides of points you plan to separate ON THE PRESENT WIRING BEFORE YOU REMOVE IT. Sounds like a lot of effort added to replace wiring. But you MUST have a solid point of reference for how YOUR car is wired if you are to be successful with the re-wiring. As mentioned, take plenty of "before" pictures. The standard electrical diagrams and the AIM are useful; but you cannot be positive about them being 100% accurate or exactly like YOUR vehicle.

I spent a few weeks helping a friend re-wire their Jaguar XK-E.....which had already been stripped of its wiring...with all connections separated....and NO identification on anything. [And we think WE have wiring 'issues'....]
P.S. There are no accurate wiring diagrams for these things! I like to solve "puzzles"; but this was a DOOZY !
