When I put the blower switch on high nothing happens. The other 3 speeds work fine. I just completed a 3500 mile trip out West from Texas in my 1976. All 4 speeds worked until after I turned the A/C off while in the Colorado mountains.
This switch was replaced in 2017. I would appreciate any comments/suggestions.
My '71 has an in-line 30 amp Buss Fuse [for blower HIGH speed] in a separate (orange) line that runs along the left inner fender, under the master cylinder. Check that fuse, if the '76 still used that design.
7T1vette, I found what I think is the fuse holder in the location you described. It has 2 orange lines entering and leaving. I tried disconnecting it, but had problems doing so and had to quit as I had a disk completely removed from my lower back several years ago, and leaning over an engine bay is about the worse thing I can do. interpon, I located the relay and found that the blue wire was not connected. It must be for a reason as when I connected it, the relay got hot and the engine had trouble running, so I disconnected it. I think the fuse is the first thing that should be checked and I will have someone with a good back do it for me. I will post if the fuse or the relay is the problem or if it is something else. Thanks for all the help!!

study the wiring.. post your year.. and take pics .. that can be helpful as many on here are very smart and helpful
there is a resistor that sits on top of blower box so the windings are in the air path to cool them. not sure if this does all 4 speeds or just the 3 low speeds.
This is 75. Probably identical to the 76.
Purple wire is the blower wire. So you can see the blower resistor, and I’m about 100% sure the other piece is the relay.

Here is the 1976 A/C electrical line diagram from Willcox Corvette.
Copy and paste to your computer so all helping you can follow along, very helpful...

You have both DK.BLU and a LT.BLU wires in that area.
When the relay got HOT what one did you plug in and to where?
How does one upload pictures? I've transferred pictures of what I think is the fuse holder, and the relay from my iPhone to my computer, but when I try to download them to this thread I get the message they are the wrong type of file.
There should be NO resistor in the High speed circuit; the resistors are used to run the slower speeds. If the blower switch is 'well used', the contacts might have increased resistance, which will translate to much higher current requirement. That could blow the fuse, if that is your problem.
7T1vette, what do you see in the Willcox circuit link?
I do see a DK BLU wire at the HSBR resistor.
My 1977 uses a different HSBR.
Circuit #40 ORN wire from inline 30amp fuse is the common side of the high speed relay.
When HI speed is selected at the the blower switch Circuit #96B DK BLU wire energizes the HI Speed Blower relay coil closing contacts between Circuit #40 & #65A.
From 65A the PPL wire splits, PPL sending power directly to the blower motor and where it splits the wire color changes to DK BLU and lands at the what looks like Circuit #101 of the resistor.
Or am I missing something?
That is how I've tried to download my pictures to the thread.....clicking the 2 mountains and a moon. I've tried 2 methods of transferring the pictures from iPhone to the PC. Mailing and then saving them to pictures, and also desktop, but I get the message it is not an accepted file type. When I hook the iPhone to the PC they are downloaded to photos not pictures, and when one clicks the 2 mountains and a moon, it takes you to pictures. What am I doing wrong?
So when you click to attach a photo it shows browse your device,
Next it will ask you where,
My default is desktop, or you can select other files and folders in the vertical left side panel...
You will need to locate the folder on your computer you transferred files to...
Or take the pictures on your phone or ipad and go to this site and as above post from phone..its in your pictures..
i have an ipad cracked up in the garage for just such thing…spelling tough though or voice to text
