I'm running Dunlop P245/50 ZR15 tires on my 73 stock rally wheels. I'm going to have to replace the tires soon, but haven't been able to locate a decent substitute. Does anyone have any suggestions, keeping the stock rims.
Thanks in advance.
My $0.02 worth.....225/70/15 or 255/60/15. Your current tires are, IMHO, too "short"...............
What are you saying, go with a 75 series? I’m running with 235/60/15 - down from the 255/65/15 the PO had on this car and they rubbed up front at the end of a full Turn.
My Z rated 245/50s are the best modification I have made to the car. They don't rub and the car drives like it's on rails. ( I think it looks much better too, especially with the stock rally wheels. )
Just last Friday I drove 3 "Parade" laps around the Watkins Glen Race Course. Fastest Parade you have ever seen.
My problem is I'm going to have to replace the tires soon and I can't locate comparable tires.
If anyone can point me to a website that carries tires that might work, I would be very grateful.

Never heard of these tires for 15 inch rims....so, they may no longer exist.
I also need to replace my 245-50's, but I do not want a white lettered tire. So far, I'm leaning towards a Hoosier pro street 19100 tire. pro street for web 1 20c.pdf (hoosiertire.com)

Good luck getting Hoosier tires! They're one of the primary suppliers for "short track" race tires, and they're having tremendous issues manufacturing tires, right now. Several of the tracks in my area have had to cancel races, due to a lack of tires. And if you don't like the look of white lettered tires, simply mount them black side out.....
Summit shows 4, Jegs shows them as shipping today. I don't like to mount white letter tires on the inside, that's just me. We have no problem getting R7 and A7 Hoosiers. We buy probably 30 tires a month from Hoosier Tire East in all different sizes for the race cars we build/prep. Since these are the only street legal tires Hoosier sells is probably why they are in stock.
The tires I'm replacing are Dunlop SP Sport 8000 245/50 ZR15. I have been using them for quite a few years, and they are approaching the end of their life.
The car is a 73 convertible that I have put 120K miles on. A daily driver. ( Except for that one day at the Glen )
I'm leaning toward 225/60s, They are narrower and taller, but should be fine for my purposes.
I went with Nitto NT555 R2's (z rated dot approved drag radials P275r 50/15
white letters are not included
Do those Nittos say "recommended for competition use only" on the sidewalls. The Nitto NT01 I just bought say it, but Nitto says they can be used on the street. Not sure what State Farm will think about this if I ever make an accident claim.

just went out to my garage to look, no where on the tire does it say for off road use only, only safety warnings about driving on wet surfaces an maintaining proper inflation. Again these are DOT approved street tire that is supposed to work well on a road course they have a tread wear of A
