Default Somethings brewing................

I've put a deposit on this and if all goes well I should have it by next week. 1975,original owner been parked in a garage since 1978. 11,000 original miles, both tops,I think the hardtop was only off the car when the pictures were takin.I kept going back and forth between a 74/75 roadster and a clean 1980,I almost had a 74 roadster about 3 weeks ago, deal was pretty much done then the owner got stupid so I passed,it's the 23,000 mile white car he keeps posting on eBay. Got so great plans for this 75. The guy didn't know what happened to the rear bumper until I told him they crumble and fall off the car without anybody touching them, don't think he believed me,cars an L-48,not sure what the deal is with the L-82 valve covers. Let the fun begin.

It appears to be nearly all-original from the engine compartment pics. The cast valve covers may have been the result of unsuccessful corrections for oil leaks on the stamped covers....or the PO may just have likeld the look of the cast covers better. It still has the emissions 'stuff', which is somewhat surprising but an asset, IMO.

The car has chrome brackets for what I believe is the radiator some somebody may have gotten the detail bug at some point. In the one picture that may have been the first time the soft top was ever up. It looks like the vinyl may have shrunken over time. I'd hate to replace it because of that but I need to get the car first.

Great looking Vette, congrats. Funny the original owner of this car who parked it in a garage around 1978 didn't know what happened to the rear end. Guess he just walked out one day and the rear end was laying in the floor and said wonder how that happened.

I explain this to people and most don't believe it. The odd thing is I've never seen a front bumper fall apart, never.

About 5yrs ago, when I found my '75 convertible, it had been forgotten in a corner of shop for several years, and yes the front bumper was falling off the car, piece by piece, ( the owner did know it was happening ) Upon trailering it home, 99% of the front and rear bumper covers cracked off,, ( befor the trip, I collected the rear "C O R V E T T E" emblem so as not to lose it in transport,)
Thats a great find Jeff. Looking forward to your repairs to this classic, and getting it on the road,,

Z51JEFF Try attaching the convertible top front header first, and then press the 2 pins on the rear bow into the deck lid receivers. From you picture, it looks like you attached the rear bow first.

If that doesn't work, let the top warm up in the sun.and try again.

I haven't actually looked at the car,it's 2 hours away and a close friend inspected the car for me. I will let the soft top warm up in the sun and gradually get it to latch.

Ditto on letting the top stretch in the sun before trying to latch it in place. That will keep it from being damaged. Ike

Dig the 81s, great looking car but being smog exempt gives you lots of options.

Nice find Jeff. I love the '75 convertibles and love the color. Both tops are also a rare find ... so very cool. Keep the photos coming as you put her back together.

Had a 1975 roadster and have a few parts if you need them. What did he charge you for it? If it has a cat on it change it because when you shake them off the car they rattle they are junk and the car runs like ****..That color i knew of a person in CT who moved to Florida.who owns a roadster similar to the one you are buying. Some parts i have are new black sun visor, ground strap for side exhaust, lower instrument courtesy light bracket etc.
