Default Ride Height

Hello All, just out of curiousity on my '78, I measured from the floor to the top of each wheel arch lip. Both front measured 28", both rear were 27 3/4" Is this normal? What is considered "normal". Is there really even a "normal" or is every car slightly different. To the best of my knowledge, mine is "bone-stock" original with almost 73K miles, that's why I bought it. The shocks look very old however the car rides, steers and handles very well. Overall, everything seems quite "tight", to me. Anyone care to share the measurement of their similar year car? I solicit your opinions and knowledge, Thanks in Advance, LowSporty

If you are not deeply into originality enjoy it as it is since everything is working properly. As for heigth at the arch the suspension has settled-I'm guessing-an inch or more.
The brochure fo my '68 made the car sit more like a 4x4 suv rather than a sport car.
I lowed the front arches to 27 1/2" and the rear arches to 28 1/2" to allow for a full tank of gas and 50lbs. of luggage/

On mine it's 28 1/4" front, 28 1/8" rear.

It's stock except for the 255/60s and a set of Edelbrock shocks...

The GM Media Kit for your car should have the stock measurements. Ride height is personal preference. In my 80, I've replaced every bushing, spring, shock, and rebuilt or replaced every major suspension component, and it's hard to tell from the side of the car that anything changed. Pretty obvious from the inside, though.

This is from the 1979 Corvette PDF (I know, that does not look like a Corvette)

Please post some photos of your ride!

Rear depends on the bolts used / and how much the nuts are threaded on the bolts, (rear is factory adjustable) less threads showing below the nut lowers the car. But 28" is where my car was before the VB&P kit.

Mine with VB&P Street and salom kits was ~ 27" all around with 275 40 R 18 tires.

Always try to have the front slightly to one inch lower than the rear. C3's that sit higher in the front not only look stupid. they catch wind under the hood at speed causing a very light front end. very dangerous situation. I have mine set at 27 1/2 front. 28 1/4 rear. Of course I never exceed the speed limit....... oops, I think my Halo might be on a little crooked.

These cars just sit high. Mine is 28-1/2" front and 27 1/2" rear, and I even have 8" bolts out back. I just got a rear coil-over kit with the fronts to follow, I want mine much lower!
