After accidentally reversing battery polarity on 77' L82, no Power to ignition or anything.
Repaired burnt alternator wire in harness.
Now there's no Power to ignition or anything.
Is there a power relay or specific fuse that I should be checking out first? Thank you.
Did your replace the starter extension harness yet? The fusable links near the starter could have blown, too. Here is but one example, there are several different ones for 77, early/late, with/without AC. https://www.zip-corvette.com/77l-78-...n-harness.html
After that, you may need to trace where the power is going. A needle-type test light lets you poke through wire insulation to see where power is, and isn't.
The location of the 2 fusible link(s) in the charge circuit differ on a 77 depending if early or late build.
On an early build 1 fusible link is part of the engine harness and will be near the starter solenoid.
The other will be just under the brake master cylinder at the firewall bulkhead connector and is part of the forward lamp harness.
Each can be replaced/repaired without changing the complete harness but repairing/replacing the one in the forward lamp harness is a real bear to do it correctly because of its location.
If equipped, don't mistake the hood light fusible link for the charge circuit fusible link as both are in that general area.
On the late build both charge circuit fusible links will be on the starter extension harness near the starter solenoid.
Please don't take offense, but if you can make such a major mistake of hooking up your battery backwards, make sure you double-check all work you are doing before you power-up various vehicle systems. Also, it would be BEST for you to install a battery disconnect switch so that you ALWAYS cut battery power whenever you work on anything electrical. Having to un-bolt a battery cable frequently is a real PITA.
