fitted new springs with 1/2 coil cut off because my future engine will have aluminum heads.
but the car sits VERY high.
Combining the springrrate and weight of the engine + trans it would only make the car lower 1-1.5 inch.
Does the car really only lower that little when fitting the engine etc back in, or am I worrying for nothing?
Don't feel like taking the springs out for the millionth time.

In simple terms, if the spring rate is 300 lbs/in per spring and the weight is 600 lbs, the springs, left and right, will compress 1" per spring. Some of that weight will be supported by the rear spring so a bit less than an inch.

That's how I calculated it. I do vaguely remember the suspension ratio to be 0,6 on the cars, so I would need to factor that in. Got some 474 lbs/inch ac delco springs in there (99% sure they're the same as the moog springs).
You have to drive it and settle the springs in before you can make a decision on the height.....
When I lowered my 69' 427.....it dropped another inch after going around the block.....
To me,, Sounds like your a perfect candidate for Coilovers on the front. No more taking the springs out for the millionth time any more....
I need someone on here to marry me off to their daughter first so I can live in the USA lol.
Not legal in Europe to change to coilovers. Had to sell my yellow vette because I welded in frame reinforcements and welded the bottom arm rails on the sides, go figure...

New topic,,,,, Who would buy it with your modifications, did it have to leave your country, or don't you have to disclose those things to potential buyers,,, I'm just curious.
I'm guessing they have inspectors over there. Do those guys really know what springs/shocks a fifty year old foreign car had stock?
It depends, my inspector knew the bottom arm rails weren't welded originally, it's a bit the luck of the draw

I sold it to a different country indeed, some countries are better 😅 ( but they pay 2 euros / liter of fuel)
