Default Wheel arch measurement

Hello all, I recently installed Vansteel rear coilover conversion on my flared 1972. The car still sits very high(33"from ground to center of fender lip)and I am wondering if my wheel arches are way out of whack from the flaring. Does anyone have the measurement of the wheel arch length and height, from an unmolested vehicle?

My '76 is 28 1/4" from the ground to bottom of the lip...

I was looking for a measurment from A to B, and C to D. To compare and see if my flares are just too high or misshapen.

My '74 measurements are A-B=32" C-D=16". My rear wheel lip is 27". How high are you from the lower fender lip, near the "A" in the picture? I am at 9". What size tires are those? Mine are 255-60.

Ignore my comment….I saw the photo you posted with what you wanted…
……………………………………
If your arches are flared a measurement from a stock car wont be a good comparison.

Possibly ground to the top edge of the rear guard would be a better comparison as well ?

My measurement ground to lip is 26-3/4” and I have Vansteel coilovers (but with shorter shock bodies)

A to B looks like 32".....It's a little tough to measure with the wheel on.
The gap between the top of the tire & the lip looks high.
Mine's about 2 1/2"...

Is that photo after you fitted the Vansteel Kit ?

And if yes how far have you driven it to settle it in ?

The flare does look to be sitting high on the guard but what wheel tyre did it run before?

I have not driven it, only rolled forwards and backwards. The tire is a 275/60/15. I have the coils adjusted pretty high up, so I could lower it close to 2 inches more.

it will settle a bit after a good drive or…..set the shocks to 0 compression and 0 rebound and bounce the rear heaps. It would help if the rear tyres on on a slip plate as they need to move out as it bounces.

275 is a tall tyre as well.

just be careful how far down you take the coilovers. Measure the gap to the bump stop.

measure from the frame bottom near the wheels to ground. that measurement is about 7-1/4 inch. yours may well be way above that, in which case it is overall suspension height making the issue worse.

The frame height just in front of the rear wheels is about 8" give or take .25"
Does anyone have the measurment from the lip of the fender to the peak in the body? Thumb to tip of ring finger.

ok then your wheel opening is 2 inches taller at the top than stock. which means front to back is probably opened up a lot also. and both sides don't match. either really big rear tires, new fender openings, or live with it for the time being.

I have the Eckler mud flap flares, the A-B measurement is set at app. 32" from Eckler, hard to measure with wheels on the car.
The C-D is 28 3/16 in front & 28 1/16 in the rear. I notice that you don't have any flare lip on the well edge, are those custom or home made ?
Just eyeballing the side of the car look at the door key hole and go straight back towards the rear of the car, that line is right at the upper most part of you flare lip, off hand i would say the flare are about 2" mounted to high.
