I have a 76 with 4 sp i installed a Blueprint 355 motor with new ram clutch pressure plate and all i bought from ecklers . My problem is to get less peddle which i mean it had 4 inches before there was any tension , I had to adjust the rod facing the front of the car almost all the way . Now it acts like clutch isnt disengaging when iam shifting gears . . I bought car from my brother in law which said there shouldnt be that much differentce in adjustment between the old clutch and the new , When i was putting everything in motor and all i was in hurry only had 2 weeks to get it done before moving 600 miles away . Anyone have any idea whats wrong or if i did something wrong installing it . ok iam going to edit some of this everything was new clutch pressure plate throw out bearing came as a kit from ecklers. Blue print recommended a new fly wheel which i bought also didnt wanna go through pulling trans again since its such a pain . When old clutch was in play was fine , when i put in new there was too much play had to adjust all the way out . I drove car up and down road at first was also having brake problems old booster was gone had to replace it also . Now yesterday i drove it an could tell it wasnt releasing but before it felt better so lord knows
your clutch fork could be off or cracked I have seen this before ,, ask me how I know ,, also check the z bar push rod for play
your flex plate might not have enough meat on it
I run a RAM clutch. purchased from Summit. Ram makes more than one clutch setup. But if you bought it from Ecklers no doubt it's the basic stock replacement one that you paid double for. (Ecklers).
Ram clutch kits generally come with the correct throw out bearing. So best guess is in your hurry you didn't get it clipped properly in the arm. And or a badly worn arm or ball stud. Very important to get the throwout bearing clipped into the arm the correct way. And easy to get it in wrong.
And by the way, I put my RAM clutch in a couple years ago. Works great. highly recommended them.
Pics of throwout bearing and fork through rubber..agree may not be on correct.
also just to clarify, the old was 4 inches of free play? Or the new one is? Should be 1 1/4 inch..is it?
pic of clutch adjustment screw at 1 1/4?
If the flywheel has been milled several time. There will be insufficient adjustment left on the adjustment rod with the original pivot ball on the bell housing. You will ether need an new flywheel or a longer pivot ball.
brand new fly wheel part number and all i got from blue print what they recommended . . Since it is such a pain in the butt to get trans out i wanted to replace everything i could at time so i wouldnt have to do it later
