Default 69 Rear Plenum Drain

I have an early 69 coupe with AC and just need to confirm a few things before I reinstall the rear plenum drain tubes:
  • I have seen some comments with people that have rivets in theirs but mine had hex nut screws and j nuts - is that a early vs late thing or what, AIM lists rivets?
  • Tube and metal flange (cover) go in from the outside - Am I reading the AIM incorrectly because it seems to show the tube on the inside for the coupe?
  • Is there anything that I should be doing to clean up the carpet from the inside since there appears to be no cover that dresses it up - Alan 71 did an amazing job trimming the carpet but didn't know if I need to do anything the keep the loop from unraveling? BTW you always trim the bush to make the tree look taller - that was a funny add...
Thanks
Mike

Here is the body drain hole with the j nuts:

And Alan 71 with his wonderful detail, no trim:

The drains on my '72 were held on with screws and not rivets - I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to readily remove them. The tubes on mine were also installed from the wheel well into the car with the metal cover securing the flanged end of the tube in place on the wheel well side.

I also have a early 69 but no A/C and my drains are set up as the same as ACfarmerNH

The tube goes in from the outside, the panel is cut away in the diagram and shows just under the #3 flag.
My 72 was riveted. On a side note though, one side of the actual drain outlet from the trough the fiberglass wasn't cut open from the factory. Tube, clamp, everything was on but there was no opening.... I thought it was just clogged but nope.

Thanks for your comments ACfarmerNH, sw69vette and Mooser! I reinstalled the tubes from the outside and outer caps as they came apart. I think the screws was an easier method to install the drain versus the rivets. Time for the next item on the list.

Here is it reinstalled, need to clean up the hex heads a bit.

Noticed I need to clean up the rotors as I was sitting there taking a break, that will have to wait until the snow/salt is gone
