Rebuilt the headlamp assemblies on my 72. One thing I noticed is that when they go up and down and hit the stops it's a hard stop if you know what I mean. Metal against metal. I don't see where there is supposed to be any cushioning on the stops. Should there be? I won't use the headlamps much, but it seems like this will be hard on the mechanisms. Thoughts?
Not that I know of. On the down side it's just metal to metal on the stop bolt as you notice. On the up there is the positive stop on the linkage and the stop over on the side bracket, also metal on metal
The side stop bolt is the same one used on the hood latch stops, so on mine I put the rubber cushion that they used there onto the headlights to give a thunk rather than the clank noise
