I have no idea what foreman was referring to as the bracket. Don't think I've checked the manual but the way I do mine is to leave the spring off so everything hangs down a bit, put the cross-cable onto the threaded rod and then the nut (I used nylocs) and then once it's threaded on a few turns put the spring on and then tighten the nuts up to adjust.
If that doesn't work you could pull the clips off the cables on the trailing arm and pull the cable sleeves out of the brackets to give enough slack to get the nut started and then put them back onto the arms

The problem is right now that the rod doesnt reach the cross-cable. Even when I use ratchet straps to pull the cross cable, the rod doesnt reach enough to even get the spring through. I feel like im at the point where the stock rod is too small, but the extended rod is too long/doesnt cut the slack for the cross cable. I don't wanna have to cut the cable with the hole, but I don't know how I can get around it.
As above, "At some time someone put that extender on so just try to figure out if it was needed due to wrong cables / setup / incompetence"
Once you know what's wrong then you can make the best choice to move forward, you can only cut then end of that cable off once.
Try to see if it's the cross cable or the main one, check the distance from the end of the cable tip where the hole is to the frame where the spring connects

Ok so I lost my phone yesterday and I will post picture later where to loosen the cable but I will explain it again
follow the cross cable back on both sides and you will find the brackets that hold both sides of the cable if you loosen one side
of the bracket and flip it down it will give you more room on the cable usually you only have to do one side
once you get it back on flip it back up and secure the bolt

ok I’ll try this. If it doesn’t work I might have to cut the thread.
Not yet, will work on it today. Yesterday was spent fixing my cars locks. I have a suspicion dropping brackets will not be enough though. I used 2 ratchet straps to try and pull the cross cable to the brake cable, but even at full strength it wasn't enough. If I do get it to hook up for some reason, then the brake will be engaged at rest. Il try though
