To clarify my point
This Hot Rod Cover shows how difficult it is to reproduce black cars in the print world. Black ink will muddy the image. Because of this, GM decided not to offer black. They intended to keep the imagery of Corvettes protected, so they offered only colors that would represent well in the print market.

Not a 73, but my 79 is factory black after the hiatus. I guess photo technology had evolved by then.
In person, and on a modern phone camera, black is by far the best looking C3 color.
