79 - carpet color
Hi,
I have a 79' that is all original. The exterior is white with a blue tint. The carpet is a dark blue color. I'm looking to replace the carpet (complete kit) and don't know color to specify. I want to keep the OEM look. How do I go about getting the color correct?

If your car is still in its OEM colors then, by your description, you have a 1979 Corvette painted Corvette Light Blue (Code 28) with a Dark Blue interior (Code 292). If you have cloth seating surfaces, then the interior would be Code 29C. Either way the carpet would be the same dark blue color.
Many of the Corvette parts houses sell complete carpet sets in any of the six original 1979 interior colors. When ordering, you need only specify that the car is a 1979 with a dark blue interior and that should do it. They know what color of dye to use.
Dark blue interiors were a very popular choice for 1979 Corvettes painted light blue, which I also like, having kind of a classy look. It should look nice when you’re done.
