Came across the following link while Googling something else and noticed the double stamping on the engine pad. Is this indicative of the block being decked and the pad being restamped? lol also note the goofy household plumbing valve on the heater core piping.
The stamp appears to be normal but someone it appears tried mechanically clean the pad. There also in the photo at the top remnants of some broach marks. The suffix has the double stamp one bold the other faint from a bounced typical when it occurs. The VIN on the transmission has the same makeup as the block.
the stamps were put on there by assy line workers who only cared that engine type, date and vin were readable. they didn't care a little bit about whether or not we would worry about how pretty the stamp was in 50 years. and chebby was no effing way gonna scrap a block cuz somebody missed. they would grind it part way off and hit it again.
