Default Trip odometer reset cable routing

Can someone tell me how the trip odometer reset cable gets routed from the back of the speedometer while installing the driver side instrument panel. There is a cast iron brace right behind the speedometer. Does the cable route OVER this brace? Routing the cable UNDER results in the cable being bent at a 90 degree angle, pinched between the iron brace and speedometer back.

This is from my 71 before I installed it. Don’t recall the bracket being an issue but I can have a look under the dash tomorrow.

As i took it out before resto.

Looks like cable needed to be disconnected to be removed.

Not a good shot, given so much clutter, but the cable goes past the side of the bracket.

Mine is over the brace, behind the wire mess
Not sure if this helps

I think the reset cable is pinched between the speedometer housing and iron bracket in the area pointed at with the yellow arrow.
Are you saying it should go to the left side of this bracket?
I don't get much movement left/right for the cluster, pretty much determined by the positioning of the center cluster and door frame.
I may be able to get it routed over the top of the iron bracket, raising the cluster slightly?

I am revisiting this for you after reviewing my build photos etc. I forgot I did some surgery to fix that factory problem.

It turns out I modified the bracket to get the cable run with less bend.
