Default 1971 L.E.D. Dash upgrade

I see there are many threads on here about the LED upgrades but didn't want to resurrect a 5 year old thread.

I don't usually drive at night (light until 9PM here) but was out the other night and had to use the head lights and noticed my top bulb of the speedo was out.

Since I have to take the dash apart to replace the Tach & Cable figured no sense replacing the bulb and to do the LED upgrade.

Saw this on Corvette Mods and wanted to see if this is a recommended product. I know I could source the single LED lamps separately for cheaper but is it worth it?

Looking at this.

There was a recent discussion on the C2 forum about LEDs and a couple of places to get them. I may go that route myself but just haven't yet.

Put new bulbs in my 77 and not much change, then replaced the new ones with LED's and it was an improvement, but still not enough.
What really made all the difference in the world was painting the inside of the cans from blue to white. Did the tach, speedo, and small gauges and now they
light up like your pic..

I put this type in that I bought on ebay in 2012... I have yet to have one fail yet in 10 years. The dimming feature is pretty much non existent but that doesnt bother me since Id keep them at full brightness regardless in this car.. https://www.ebay.com/itm/35308698988...8AAOSwWAJiYnLu
BTW I didnt repaint anything and mine a about the same brightness as the picture above but mine have more of a blueish tint to the light. the pic looks green

$92 seems kinda nuts to me because theres a high chance the bulbs used even if the dimmable version are still cheap chinese bulbs someone is throwing into a bag and marking up $75. (I could be wrong and everyone has different values associated with $92)
I also found these dimmable bulbs that work with up to 28v https://www.ebay.com/itm/33323133423...IAAOSwB5ddARrj

The stock incandescent with the blue housing will appear greenish (yellow + blue). That yours appear bluish is probably due to your bulbs' neutral white color spectrum. If I were to do mine, I'd choose the warm white to mimic the incandescent quality, but they do come in a variety of flavors.

I've done two, 73 &79, with superbrights LED bulbs and I felt it was well worth it. They are not dimable, but much better IMO. if you decide to change your bulbs, pick up spare sockets, because some of your old brittle sockets will come apart and need to be replaced. I upgraded the sockets after reading this post:

I converted my '70 to LED several years ago. Loved the results until I decided to change to Dakota Digital gauges. Also had some dealing with Corvette Mods. Never again. Seat belts they advertised as fitting my car weren't even close. They insisted they were correct and wouldn't do anything. I'll never make that mistake again.

I did LED strip lighting several years ago. Here is a link to my thread:
