I'm reassembling the center console and heater controls on my 1969 C3. Where on the HVAC controls does the temp cable clamp to? I assume the cable fits over the post on the vacuum valve. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Also, what is the switch attached to the bottom of the HVAC control and where can I get one? My car is non-AC.

If it's like the '72's cable, it's kind of counterintuitive. The cable's little rectangular securing bracket enters from inside the frame and pivots upward to be secured with a self-tapping screw on the outside. I can take a pic of mine if needed since my console's apart. The cable's loop fits over the downward or center-ward pointing post and is held with a round push-nut.
I'm unclear on what switch on the bottom you're referring to - can you post a pic?
This photo shows an A/C control, but the non-A/C is very similar in this regard (someone will correct me if I'm wrong):
