Default Export prep meaning on build sheet?

Someone with factual knowledge please educate me - I have only part of the surviving tank sticker sheet from my 69 that's readable which shows code 02ZX1AA Export Prep=1 and then below that says Tax Status- Non taxable. Further down it also notes New Orleans.

I can imagine and speculate about my car being shipped by ferry from the STL plant down to New Orleans for export etc but can someone knowledgeable give me the facts of what this data truly means? Was my car definiitely exported somewhere? What if any dealer would have handled this or what do I note as I'm getting a repro window sticker created with unknown dealer info.

A reproduction window sticker? WOW.
It's a 69 Corvette, enjoy it. Drive it!

An interesting dilemma! I'm much more familiar with how exports were handled in the late C3 years than early years due primarily to the availability of the GMAD buildsheet with much more detailed export codes. Our best data comes from the Canadian exports that required certain emission controls, stickers and even the speedometer in kilometers, all called out on the buildsheet.

I had to work backwards with my 78 with a window sticker that showed an Opel dealer in Germany! My 78 was ordered by an army recruit who did not want to pay the $5k surcharge for a Silver Anniversary model. He waited until he was in Germany, ordered it through an Opel dealer and delivered to the Silver Springs (I think that's the name) dealer in Maryland. So it was built for U.S. emission operations.

In the 1960s, GM was selling engines to race car teams in Europe, who like the 327 350s so it makes sense that the entire vehicle was also being shipped out of states. Having said that, I'll add that NCRS has a dealer data service, called the Shipping Data Report services that includes dealer name, code, etc. However use of the service requires membership. Also, many on its forum are quite familiar with the early Corvette Order Copy that was glued to the 69 gas tanks...it differs from the late model C3 build sheets that include not only RPO codes, but the broadcast codes as well. I suspect the ZX1 is the RPO code for export. In later C3 years, RPO Z49 was the Canadian export code in late models.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for sharing the backstory, very cool. Also for the referral to shipping data report- I've jumped on that already and ordered. Thanks again!
