I should have started this thread years ago but the journey continues so I’m starting it now. Currently learning to do some body work as I intend to prep my hard top, a new LT1 BB hood, and modifying the egg crates to have only vertical fins.

I’ve had the car for 15 years and have done a ton to it except body work. I’m tinkering with body work now and you can see the PO filled in the egg crates with glass. I’m putting the crates back on but modifying them with the vertical vents only. Got the idea from Phantom and I’m in the process of grind the horizontal parts down now.
Working on my steering a little. New Ridetech suspension system which made good improvement. I still get a lot of steering wheel vibration when hitting bumps or rough roads. Suspension is tight, newly rebuilt steering box. I was in Tampa today and stopped at Van Steel. They turned me on to checking the the steering column. They said I should check for steering wheel free play while it’s parked. Sure enough today I did it and it does seem like it’s too much. I drove an 82 a few months ago and it’s steering wheel was considerably smoother. This is not vibration at a certain speed. It’s on bumps or rough roads. I’ll try to attach a video to show me moving it while parked.
Maybe I wasn't paying attention...did you detect any clockwise/counter-clockwise shaft slack...and how much?
The clock-counterclockwise movement looks fine. (My car is manual steering/no tilt or telescope...so....after I rebuilt-adjusted everything there was no wobble/slack/up-down movement).
I know nothing about Tilt-Tele wobble-slack problems.
Got one of the vents close to done. I’m new to body work and this was a small trial for me. I can certainly attest that body work is 90% of a good paint job. I hope to start the other vent this weekend.

That's really cool on the grilles! Never seen that done before!
Highlighting the narrow perimeter and vertical edges of the remaining grid with a contrasting color might look pretty nice.
You could simulate it with black pinstripe to see how it looks before taking the plunge.
