Also/rookie opinion...a filtered intake fan is bound to help the overspray exit the paint booth. The exhaust fans get the replacement air from SOMEWHERE....it may as well be Filtered Air.
Love how you made your own paint booth! Commend the work. the eggcrate mod is super cool, it is so a mod that would have happened in 1970 and really makes an impact. Nice to be unrestricted to NCRS approvals for sure. My 70 is bone stock so I always feel obligated to just keep it that way. Great lookin car!
I’ve been sanding and prepping the body for primer. I’m actually going to do a sealer then basecoat. First time painting a car but I’ve been studying and or a finding for quite a while now. Feels strange having the car torn apart like this. Hurts my feelings a little. Oh well, I’ll get it back together even better than the first time.
Took the panels off the doors and cleaned up underneath. The po died the panels which look good but didn’t mask off the actual doors and got black overspray all over. Looks bad and I’ve always wanted to fix that so I will be giving it some sealer and a few coats of base with a coat or two of clear. Should looks so much better.
It’s been a while since I updated so I’m trying to catch up. I always hated the shoddy door gaps and with the doers off I’m siding that. Did the passenger side and I have to say it looks tons better. Doing the drivers side this weekend. Oh, also decided to mold in the vents instead of rebuilding the brackets. I like the look of being molded in better than a bolt on look.
And also fixed the busted air dam. I get the feeling considering how low the air dams are to the ground and how long the nose of c3’s are that there are many in need of repair. I added a lot of product to the repair to improve the strength. I’m pretty happy with it. Just need to sand and primer.

How long did it take you to line up the door during re installation? This is a PITA job. It doesn't help that the door is pretty heavy - There is a lot more metal in that door than fiberglass, for sure. In fact, the only thing that is fiberglass is the skin. Shell is steel.

All true comments. I ended up using a system where I used my floor Jack with a 2 inch scuff pad on the cup. It helped me hold it on and off the hinge bolts. On the bolts I used the etch marks left on the hinges to get the door back like it was. I had to fit it back on the car about 5 times before I got the gap right. All in all probably an hour or a little longer not count the addition of the material and letting that cure.
Well I got some body work done and a few coats of primer on. Yes, I got some subs in it but not concerned as I still have to sand and feather in. Hoping to final prime by tomorrow and then move on to the jams and inside door panels.
Got the hood final fitted. Yes I painted the hood for practice. I will have to scuff and repaint it with the car put back together as I didn’t like how I laid it down (forgot to apply reducer-DUH).
There's no such thing as too much practice with bodywork & paint. I did it professionally for a while after high school & college. I could hold my own, but I never got "good" at it.
