What is the wiring upgrade that needs to be done? I am actually wanting to upgrade my 63a to a 100 or maybe even 140 due to adding dual electric fans, Vintage air and a modest stereo system but don’t want to burn it down!
Im with HUD1086,
what upgraded wiring are you referring to?
I have all new Lectric Limited wiring harnesses, but they are all OEM type replacements.
Are there heavier duty upgrades that need to be done if installing a higher output alternator?
I plan to install a vintage air system later down the road, as well as a fairly low key radio, but not sure it will be used that often.
I’m on the fence about electric fans.

Well if I don’t find the through bolt and the plastic retainer ring is broken I need one of those replacement packs like you have. Are the still available? Yours is NOS, I’m probably not going to find one… specially here in Spain.
Yes. There are heavier wiring upgrades that need to be done when installing a high output alternator. Check out the thread he started in C3 tech.
And / or go to Mad Electricals web site and read there tech pages.

If you cant find the rebuild kit that comes with all you need, I would then just bite the bullet and purchase a new 3 wire 10si alternator.
Because you have A/C you want at least 61-63 and a MAX output around 80 amps.
I installed a NEW 80 amp alternator in my well optioned 77 years ago and have had no problems with the charging system.
Ordering the bolt kit alone is half of the price of ordering the complete kit I posted above that comes with the new bolt and attaching hardware.
How do you normally order parts?
Do you use E-bay?

nornally I get my parts from Corvette Central, Willcox (when working), Eckler’s…etc. Have bought stuff on eBay too but lots of time the seller won’t ship to Spain. I tried to buy the kit you posted, it’s just what I need, but the won’t ship to Spain…

At the very least you will want to run a new 2 ga wire from the alternator post to the battery. I'm upgrading my alternator as well....

Doesnt the wiring run from alternator to starter, then to battery? Are you saying it’s better not to run it to the starter and instead to the battery directly?
If you run it to the starter, your tying into the main positive battery cable at the solenoid. If your positive battery cable is in good condition. It makes very little difference to run a cable all the way back to the battery.
just watch out with EFI computers. They are very touchy and need very smooth power and a very clean ground. EFI power and ground should come straight off the battery. Your alternator isn't that touchy.
Thanks so much for the info, I bought that kit from the link you supplied. Paid for it today by PayPal and it was shipped today. Shipping to my brother in Boston and he’ll send it to me in Spain.., 😃
