It never gets old...
I just got back from getting the Vette out for the first time in '23 and man, I feel like a kid again!
Pulling back the cover to see everything just as I left it last November. Checking the brake fluid....no leaks this year!..
Hearing the Magnaflows rumble to life. Smelling that slightly rich mixture coming out of them.
The T-tops giving their first squeaks leaving the driveway. Looking at those two big beautiful fender peaks.
Getting the first thumbs up of the year, given by a little girl riding high in her black Suburban.
Remembering that I don't have a right side mirror but I do have a blind spot the size of Montana.
I've been doing this every Spring since '77. And yet it feels like '77..
God help me if a Tesla someday gives the same feeling I have right now.........
Isn't it great to enjoy something that much.........I feel sorry for those that do not have that capacity. For those of us that do,......if you have to explain it, you would not understand. It actually is a deeply personal, spiritual, emotional and life affriming thing. I have spent 64 years on this planet, and this type of connection to a machine is what has been the most fullfilling. Some folks who like to "analyze" other people will say that this is sad.....that only humans, or dogs can rise to this level of meaning. I don't know....nor do I care. I just know the experience I have had. Its been a gift. Without it, life would have been pretty meaningless.
