Measure the thickness of your current rad and match it. You can install a newer one thats less thick, but your radiator support wont allow you to install a thicker one. I bought a 4 row from Oreilly thinking it'll cool better, problem was it wouldnt fit in the slot that holds the rad in place, top clamps with rubber bumpers wouldnt fit either. Replaced it with a 3 row, all good. My temp never gets over 180 but Im not running a/c. Check with Oreillys , great price and warranty. Mine is almost 10 years old no leaks.

I just bought this one a month ago. $165 and free shipping. Very nice quality build, perfect fit with no mods. Four row, polished, looks great too. I'm in the California desert where temps are regularly in the triple digits. This one cools just fine. Don't overpay.

I figured I'd try the Speedway generic rad, if I end up needing one during my engine swap. EIther this orientation, or LS.

Another vote for the Champion. I went with the 4 core, no fitment issues and no more cooling issues. I just put a DeWitts in a 65 went with the 1 1/4 tubes to get max cooling. Had to trim the shroud to make it fit.

I went with the champion 3 row. Amazing results. fitment was ok had to trim some of the rubber to get it to place. But it works great and obv doesn’t leak. Tks everyone for the help!

Good call. I've had a Summit Generic in m 68 for decades (I'll go look it up---- December 2004).

how many of you guys are running electric fans with aluminum radiators? I have a four row with two fans and back shroud, and driving down the road it gets up to 210 on a cool night. does it matter if the fans are running while your driving down the road?

First, get an IR temp gun and confirm that number.

Second, no. You should not need a fan at all on the highway.

I have a Champion 3 row on order through TopFlight, they're $40 cheaper than Jegs thanks to their sale (which ends today). https://www.topflightautomotive.com/...adiator-3-row/

thanks for the input. I ran an IR temp gauge check the top neck to the bottom and only had about a 7-degree difference. my understanding it needs to be at least 20. champion said they will replace it.

Do you have all foam seals installed around the radiator and rad support?

I installed a champion in my 78 auto, quality seems good, only 3k miles so far.
The champion upper outlet fitting is 1 1/4 but the upper rad hose is 1 1/2
I found a rubber bushing from oreillys to adapt the difference and used a T bolt hose clamp there as it is much wider.

After research as well on the radiator guards and some that discussed air flow I decided to go with the GM guards and had the dealer install. I liked that fact they bolt on no way should I have any warranty issues.

Personally I’ve been looking at this one from ECP, but idk if the fact that it’s 2 row will be a problem?

why change it ?? If it isn’t broke don’t fix it. If you want to do anything get it re corded and keep the original
