I have a 77 and over the winter I disconnect the battery. Now, when I connect the power the buzzer goes on with no key in the ignition. It stays on until I turn the key and start the car. Any suggestions on what's causing this? Thanks for any help.
3 things make it go off. Key left in ignition. Lights left on. And seatbelt warning.
if the lights are off, the key is out of the ignition, you will need to track down which of these 3 are setting off the buzzer.

That's the odd thing about it, key is not in ignition, lights are off and it stops after I start the car up even without seatbelts engaged. As soon as I connect the battery shut off it starts buzzing.

I took photos from this book that you can blow up and hopefully read. This should guide you.

A door is open when you reconnect the power, right? If you shut the door does the buzzer stop?
Is the door shut when you start the car and the buzzer goes off? If it is open the door while it is running. Does the buzzer come back on? It may be a broken key in buzzer switch inside the column.
The key buzzer on my 72 occasionally acts up on mine. I just jiggle the ignition lock escutcheon until it stops. The problem is the lock cylinder buzzer actuator. See post #3 in this thread: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...zer-alarm.html

Thank you, appreciate getting this for me. I'll check for that book too!

I was also thinking the same. Slowpoke does door open or closed affect the buzzer?

I checked the 3 items listed above. Buzzed with doors open or closed, seatbelts OK. Checked for light on, I found the buzzer stops after I turn the headlight dimmer. I thought maybe the dome light was on so I started turning the **** and it stopped buzzing. I have to turn it all the way off to stop it. I'm thinking my gauges will need to be turned on after I start the car every time I drive at night, no big deal as I never go out at night with it. Sounds like the rheostat is bad?
Once the **** is turned all the way CCW there is a stop (detente), turn it past the detente and the courtesy lights will come on.
Doing so changes the circuit path bypassing rheostat, the diagram on page 18 shows that.
You are no longer sending power to the headlight warning portion of the buzzer.
If you want to disable the headlight warning only, unplug the Green connector (with Grey wire not black as diagram shows) from the fuse panel.
You will see the socket labeled on the drawing LPS.
Now, it could be that the headlight switch just needs to be pull/pushed back in many times,
Do this with the battery disconnected.
