Default Unknown part

I’m in the middle of a frame off restoration of my 1971 LT1 and encountered a part that I don’t recognize. It was located in the front of the left front wheel well.

Can anyone ID it?

Thanks

Default Transistor ignition

They didn’t track people 1971. 🤪. That’s what I thought but so have had MSD ignition for 15 years I didn’t know why it would still be there.

someone has removed it at one point. Those don’t appear to be original bolts and washers

In 1972 RPO LT-1 reverted back to the standard contact point distributor.

Default Transistor ignition module

Thanks for the explanation. I knew mine had transistor ignition from the factory but when the MSD was installed why was the transistor module not removed? Was it still needed for something?
