SEM ColorCoat is NOT a fabric dye. It is for recoloring hard (or flexible) plastic parts. Fabric dye (like the DupliColor product shown above) is a MUCH better choice.
Just look at the "Technical data Sheets" if you want to compare the products...
Duplicolor is lacquer paint.
Neither product is a "Dye".
SEM is a professional product with a full line of adhesion promoters, flex additives, toners, clears and flatteners to match sheen.
Duplicolor is a rattle can lacquer paint, probably with flex additive...
But I say if you find a product that works for you, then great!
Just went through this with my 78 PC. My take on it- don't have high hopes it will look good. I bought quart size cans of SEM silver dye and sprayed with a gun. Works great for hard surface parts. Not so much with carpet. Guessing same with fabric. Redid the entire dash, seat shells, inner windshield garnish, etc. Even used it on the steering column. Very pleased with the results. Tried a test with carpet on the kick panels. Takes several coats to see a difference. Saw the same with my 67 El Camino loop weave carpet. Car was kept in my parents garage and over a period of several years could see the sun coming through window had faded the black carpet on passenger side tunnel. 1st coat of black dye did nothing. Think I did 4 or 5 passes to get it looking right. Brushed the carpet between coats with a bristle brush. Fibers are stiff where I sprayed.

I'm finding several different shades of silver...which one did you find that matched up with the metallic silver carpet color? At Amazon the car finder shows the Pace car with their Titanium Silver product # 15253. But then it also pulls up a Silver Metallic # 19093?

Not sure I can help you there. I used SEM 15086 Silver for the interior parts and seat belts. I tried the same on kick panel carpet just as a test to see if it would work. The old carpeting was so ratty & dirty that no way to tell what its true shade should be. I have a complete carpet kit that includes the new pieces for kick panels.

I'm referring to the carpet panel on the door panel...when you say kick panel is included with the kit...is that the kick panel under the dash, door panel or console carpet panel?

Kick panel under the dash. I was just messing around with the old one as had already tossed the rest of carpeting. The kit I bought has those pieces, front & rear mains, and the console sides. Oh, and the 3 sections for compartment doors and seat backs. I have new door panels but then mine is a leather car.

Got it! I may just get both and see which aligns best. I probably would have saved $200.00 if I picked up the carpet kit when you did.
