I’m very novice when it comes to cars, especially wiring and electrical problems and I really appreciate any help.
I’ve been chasing an electrical problem with my 77 and I’ve traced it down to this point. The issue I’m facing is power loss and inconsistency, when I wiggle these wires I return power to the car; when I lose power I lose it everywhere except to the starter. It seems to me that I’ve got a poor connection on one of those wires.

This picture is taken from the driver’s side in between the brake booster and body. I can’t find any information on what the part is called. My only thought is that it’s some sort of junction to the fuses. I’ve got a wiring diagram, but I’m lost on figuring out which wire is actually causing the issue. I’m looking to pick up some contact cleaner for it and absolutely dousing it to see if I can break up any of the gunk, none of it seems to be any melted plastic. I want to clean it and try to maybe reseat them all but I can’t find a way to get my hands on it without removing the brake booster; is there any better way?

Your loosing power everywhere. There is a main power wire Junction not far from that connector. Under the master cylinder/ Booster is a main power wire Junction block. That's what failed on my 77 about 10 years ago. Look for it. A bunch of larger diameter red wires going into a white plastic connector block. I deleted the block completely and soldered all the wires together. Haven't had a problem since.
worth looking at.

If you're sure it's that connector then there should be a bolt in the center of it (this is an older car but I believe it's the same on yours) that allows you to separate it from the firewall and you can check the different wires. That cavity should be filled with lots of dielectric grease to seal it

Also check the main power line going into there from the alternator and feeds most of the other stuff in the car after the starter

I don't know the cutoff date, but if you have a "late" 1977, all of your power comes from the starter solenoid over this cable assembly, the starter solenoid extension harness. Take a look near your starter, and make sure the fusible links are intact, and the insulation isn't burned off.

Default Thanks!

That bolt in the center took a good turn and a half before it seated completely. Appreciate the comment.
As for the fusible link, that’s actually where I started; after cutting it off and checking it, it still had continuity.
With that junction box, I was under the car today doing some tidying up and took a look, didn’t see it. I’ll have to look again sometime soon.
