Does the stripe on this car have any significance? I was told chevy did not put stripes down the center of cars, so i assume it's not factory. Just curious because my car has the same stripe, but if it's good enough for James Garner, It's good enough for me.

Z28's came from the factory with stripes, so Chevy did some cars that way. Garner did all the Rockford turns better than the stunt guys. He was a real talent, his autobiography is an interesting read.
Z/28s and others had 2 stripes, not one down the middle
You're right but my point was they came from the factory with stripes - I came very close to buying the first year model, that still bugs me it was very limited production
No consumer C1-C3 Corvettes had factory stripes to any degree. The '67 had the "stinger" but it certainly didn't extend over the roof and down the rear. The only other one I can think of are the hood surround "stripes on the ZL-1s.
A lot of the prototype and race cars (few were officially sponsored by GM) had stripes: like the Grand Sports, Gulf racers, LeMans racers, etc.

About this picture, I think the guy on the right's name is Herlinger. Maybe not but somebody there is and his brother Dave ran a repair shop mostly for C2's and C3's for many years in Mountain View California. He restored one of these AAR (?) cars immaculately and given its provenance it was worth quite a few dollars. Dave somehow lost possession of the car to the brother's widow and after that the story ends. Wondering where that car is, if anybody here knows? Dave's shop was shut down as Google bought the land it was on. Too bad he had a lot of original stuff.

It was a '68 L89. Stripes wise you can get them now on a C8...

Garner ordered 3 L88's for his AIR team. Believe it or not all 3 were driven from St. Louis back to Cali.....in the winter!!
If you want to see where Baldwin / Motion got their inspiration for their iconic stripes...
This is the 1968 Prototype B. Notice the rear window and badging on the tail...
