I'm not sure I can put my finger on the exact issue, but something in the stance of this car looks off to me.
Can anyone point it out? Or maybe it's just the high-rise hood that's throwing me off.
I've looked at it, blew up the photo. Looked some more.
a tad higher in the rear than the front.
Looks near perfect to me.
Some set them even lower. They must not have as many speed bumps in their neighborhood as I do.
Overall. Different people set them up differently. For high speed handling you definitely want a bit of rake in these cars.
So it looks really good to me.
That's sort of where my eye was going. It looks too level to me, like it should have a bit more rake, and there's too much much space between top of wheel and wheel well.
Too high in the rear and the camera is too low, gives a weird perspective of things being wider and closer (short and fat, should be no lower than about the door handle or so)
But it's all an opinion... eye of the beer holder

Couldn't agree more. Rear is super easy.
Front, not so much.
I had my front springs in and out 3 times in 2 days getting my front ride height just so.
I did put up a thread awhile ago on the easiest way to get the springs out and back in however. I got pretty good at it!
But at the end of the day. It's all personal preference.
like the guy above who said the rear is to high. I don't think so. I can show you how grounded off my pipes are in the rear!
Setting them up as you choose isn't the end of the world.
Good looking car regardless.
I'd say the rear still seems high but also keep in mind we are used to seeing cars with much lower stances these past few decades than they were back in the 60s and 70s. The factory measurement to the center of the front and rear wheel arches is known.
The size of the wheels also plays a factor. If those are short tires, the gap to the wheel arch be larger and give the impression of a raised rear.

I think it's high overall. Would like it to be about 2" lower in rear and 1–1.5" lower in front.
You obviously don't live in the motherland of the speed bump! That low and I'd never get down the road I live on!
(Queensland Australia, the motherland of the speed bump).

Maybe it's a short tire to width ratio that is skewing it for me — I don't like seeing that much tread between the tires and fenders.

I get that. Really I do. And those tires clearly are not filling the wheel wells. I'm looking at the clearance from the side pipes to the ground. And that height looks approximately correct. Without a measurement from the ground to the wheel arch all we can do looking at photos is speculate.
Bottom line is that the OP is I think looking at this car and is concerned about the stance. Which of course is a matter of personal preference to a great deal. And is not a major expense to change.
Looks too high to me but I would start by wanting to see what the overall tyre height is front and back. If it’s close to 27” it’s not a tyre issue but a suspension issue.
About 1" too high all around........the wheels have about .5" too much negative offset, this is very common with 17/18" shelf wheels on these cars.....
I am not a fan of the long L-88 hood......they just look weird to me......

I agree with those that say the rear is high for sure and with Jebby that the entire stance is high. Here is the car with a straight line across the tops of the tires as best I could with the pic quality. As you can see the rear is high along with the front. Not sure what size those tires are, but with a standard 15" tire on my 82, to the top of the fender lip on front is 27.5" and the rear is 28". Mine does sit a bit lower, but I wanted it that way, but the stance is almost level.
I think the issues are, the car is slightly high all around, and the tires on the back end are too small. Needs wider and higher profile tires on the back.
