Default Another torq thrust fitment question

Im told my stock rally's have a 4" backspace. Im told American Racing Torq thrust part "VN 21555861 works but has a
3.79" backspace. Can someone tell me the fitment the new wheel will have compared to the stock?
Also wanting to go 255r60-15 tires. Rear Brake mounting bracket looks close (1.25" clearance) which wheel would give more
clearance?

Since the widths of the stock wheel and the new wheel are the same, the 3.79" backspace of the new wheel will mean that the new wheel will sit .21" further out than the stock wheel.

Searching that part # doesn't give me any results (unless you're speaking Vietnamese!) But, if they're an 8" wide wheel and you're set on 255/60-15 tires, the extra 0.21" that your wheels will sit towards the outside of the wheel well will not pose an issue. They will fit just fine.

I have torque Thrusts with 255/60R15s on my '79. They sit just noticeable farther out than stock. Perfect to my eye. The problem is the regular Torque Thrusts won't clear the brake calipers on a Corvette. I got mine through one of the Corvette supply houses many years ago. (I would have to root through my records to remember which one.) As I recall they were having them specially made or modified to work on our cars.

Both with 15x8.5 and 3.79" backspace and 255-60s no rub at all

I know you are asking about 15 inch wheels.....but I can tell you the 17 inch Torq Thrust wheels fit with NO modification and have correct backspace.....they are made for C3 Corvettes, come in Chrome or Polished....and the best part is that you can get Nitto 555GT tires....that make a HUGE difference in handling.....very noticeable. I resisted it for a long time, because I liked the factory 15 inch YJ8 wheels I had, but there is no comparison in the pathetic 15 inch tires available today,...compared to modern Nitto sticky rubber. Some guys will say to go 18 inch wheels....but I think they are too big for my liking. The 17 inch look perfect to me....plus those tires have 10 inch of sticky rubber on the ground.

I ran that size tire with TTII polished aluminum wheels, 15x8, and had no problems on my 68.

The original TTO ( torque thrust Originals) I recently purchased do not fit without a 5/16 spacer to clear calipers, and will also need to replace with longer studs to have enough threads for lug nuts, the TTO are like a silver spokes, the ones a lot of guys that have no issues with fitting the spokes are grey color, they are torque thrust II wheels.

Quote from Hemmings-
"Spoke design of the Torq-Thrust varied over its production, even within the classic straight-spokes, some of which were rounded at their peaks while others had subtle creases. Then, in 1965, when Chevrolet introduced four-wheel disc brakes for the Corvette--one of the Torq-Thrust's most popular moorings--a new wheel design had to be developed to provide the necessary additional clearance for the brake calipers. The result was the Torq-Thrust D."

Correct! You have standard Torq thrusts and Torq thrust D (disc brake)

Personally, I like the look and function of 18x8’s with 255/45/18 tires.
