Default 68 Big Block Leaf Spring

427/390 car - TH400 trans.

What was the standard leaf spring when new - 7-Leaf or 9-Leaf? Various research provides different answers.
I'm thinking the 9-Leaf GM part number 3977579.

Thanks

The Standard rear spring was a nine leaf spring and the heavy duty F41 was a seven leaf spring.

I am fairly certain the F41 7 leaf spring was only available with the solid lifter engines

Thanks for the info gents - picture is much more clear. For a 9-leaf spring would appear from my research that EATON Detroit Spring is the closest one to original as you can get -- is that the consensus of the C3 community who've tackled that project?

Thanks again...

For originality, read @interpon's thread on the 7-leaf Eaton spring:
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...af-spring.html

For driveability, consider a low-arch VanSteel composite spring.
