I am replacing this piece on my '72 and cannot get this to thread on. It came off, outta go back on. I guessed it was a 5/16" 20, but it simply will not rethread onto the 'car' end of business. Thanks between my com;uter effing up every 10 seconds (when I really need it) and this situation, I a

m going insane.if I try to chase the threads and screw it up, then I'm screwed. 5/16 20 will start in OTHER END, but not the end that goes to the car.

Left hand threads, try going the other direction. Designed to twist both sides on at the same time.
