This is a 1981 automatic I removed the shifter **** button, and some how lost the spring under the button,I can’t find anything close at auto parts store, where could I find something similar to fit.
Yea,I doubt they would have a spring like that, but wouldn’t be shocked.seems like I seen similar spring in a air type gun of some type, but will check.maybe Lowe’s.
Do a google on "3874236 spring" and you'll come up with a number of buying choices. If you want to do some footwork, I can measure my spring diameter and length if you wish.
Thanks, I just made it last evening. Since joining CF my avatar has been a box of my '72's pistons to indicate it's in the rebuilding stages. I may go back to that after the GIF's newness wears off.
Backstory: A few days ago I put the factory-style braided spark plug sheaths on my '72's wires. The way the factory placed the wires into the valve cover and distributor grommets is not very visually appealing with the separations and cross-overs to address this tendency for 5 & 7 sparks to jump. Out of curiosity I was wanting to see the firing pattern to know why spark jump is prevalent with 5 & 7. The GIF helped to visually explain why that is the case and why no other cylinders have the same issue.
Supposedly, in a completely dark garage, idling, you can spritz some water on the plug wires and actually see the event.
More common with cheap plug-wire sets. Or wires not separated.
