I’m here starting to disassemble my dash to access the items you guys have lined out for me. Is there a way to get dashboard off without dropping the steering column and clusters?
You will need to remove the fasteners from dash cluster and the center cluster.
Just loosen the column bolts to there last few threads so it drops to that point.
I was able to both change my headlight switch and troubleshoot my delay timer that way.
I have a photo somewhere showing my hand in that gap holding the delay somewhere?

That is beautifully red.
I may be late but I learned that it is so easy to just remove the steering column that I will never pull the dash again until I remove it..... and I've pulled it at least a dozen times. Not worth cracking that delicate old fiberglass...... and YES, it was only the last time that I decided to remove the steering column. On previous removals I have cracked fiberglass and I have pretty much redone the whole backside in repairs...... not worth it.

That delay timer was the culprit. Thanks to everyone who responded to my dilemma. You folks definitely know what you’re talking about. This is the only corvette I’ll ever work on as the owner is a friend of mine and she loves red and this car. She has told me that her husband will go before the vette no question.
